I recently knitted the beautiful Renfrew hat from Jane Richmond's ISLAND book. What a fun knit this was! It looks like it has cables, but it doesn't. It's simply knitting and purling and passing stitches over. Jane's pattern writing style is so great. I wanted to share this with those who aren't comfortable with knitting cables yet but want the look of them. It's a fairly easy knit, keeps you interested since it has the fun pattern stitches in it, and works up quickly.

The yarn I used was Malabrigo Rios in the colorway Vaa. This yarn was a dream to work with, and just look how beautiful it is.

And I can't say enough about how lovely this book is. The patterns are all so beautiful and fashionable, and the photography is outstanding. I am enjoying it very much. I actually went out and purchased her book JOURNEY as well. I want to make every single thing in it.

Until next time...

  1. LOVE it!!! That colourway of Rios was absolutely meant to be a Renfrew! Thank you so much for your kind words about the pattern and also about the books <3 You made my day!

    1. Thank you so much, Jane!! Yes, that color worked out perfectly. I will be making more of these, as well as some of your other patterns. They're all so lovely.
