Here's a really delicious, quick and easy cinnamon bun recipe that makes the whole house smell amazing as they're baking away.
For the buns:
1 sheet frozen puff pastry dough (thawed)
1 Tbsp. butter, softened
3 Tbsp. sugar
3 Tbsp. brown sugar
1/2 chopped pecans
1 tsp. cinnamon
Zest of an orange
For the topping:
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 Tbsp. fresh orange juice
Combine sugars, cinnamon, pecans and lemon zest in a small bowl and set aside.
Unfold puff pastry sheet onto a lightly floured surface. Gently roll out to 12" x 12" square.
Spread softened butter onto pastry sheet. Sprinkle three-quarters of cinnamon/pecan mixture over the pastry sheet. Gently press mixture into dough.
Roll into a tight log. Wrap in plastic and chill for 20 minutes.
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Cut log into six slices. Place each slice onto a lightly greased baking sheet. Press each slice slightly to make it bigger, while creating a small indentation in the center. Sprinkle remaining topping onto each of the slices, gently pressing it into them.
Mix egg yolk and milk together in a small bowl and brush each slice with some of the mixture. This will give them a beautiful dark golden brown color.
Bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown.
While the buns are baking whisk together the ingredients for the topping.
Drizzle the topping over the buns while they are hot. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
